It is a member-owned credit and thrift co-operative society registered with the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Rajasthan, and governed by the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies Act, 2001 and the Rules, 2003. Its registered office is at Ajay Niwas, Gulab Bag, Karauli. Its objects include promoting thrift and mutual help among members, accepting deposits from members and lending to members for their domestic, social and business needs. It is a co-operative society, not a bank.
Any adult who is competent to contract, resides within the Society's area of operation (Karauli, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Alwar, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa and Jaipur districts), needs the Society's services and is willing to fulfil the obligations of membership may apply, subject to the eligibility conditions in the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies Act, 2001 and the Society's bye-laws.
As per the bye-laws, an applicant pays a membership fee of ₹10 and purchases at least one share of ₹100, submits the application in the prescribed form and signs a declaration to abide by the Society's bye-laws and rules. Membership rights begin once these formalities are complete.
The Society's scheme booklet lists a Savings Account (6% p.a. on daily balance), Short Term Deposit Receipts (STDR 2001, 1 month to 3 years), a Long Term Deposit (STDR 2002, 10 years), the Jumbo Samriddhi Yojana (2.5 times in 72 months), the Jumbo Mahila Samriddhi Yojana for women members (double in 61 months), the Jumbo Double Bond (double in 65 months), the Jumbo Term Deposit Scheme (18 months) and the Jumbo Monthly Income Scheme 2004. No. Under bye-law 3.2 the Society accepts deposits only from its members. A person must first be admitted as a member before opening any account or placing a deposit.
Each scheme has its own rule. Short-tenure STDR 2001 options (1, 3 and 6 months) and the 18-month Jumbo Term Deposit do not allow premature payment. Other schemes allow premature payment only after a lock-in period and at a reduced rate stated in the scheme table. Please see the Deposit Schemes page for the exact rule of each scheme.
The Society lends only to its members, for domestic, social, business and other genuine needs, on terms fixed by the Board of Directors under its lending policy. A loan of up to 80% of the principal is also available against a Jumbo Monthly Income Scheme deposit. No single borrower may be lent more than 10% of the Society's total deposits, and penal interest on default cannot exceed 5% over the prescribed rate.
The membership application is made in the Society's prescribed form together with the membership fee and share money. Two recent passport-size photographs are required when opening an account, and the specimen signature recorded on the membership form is used for all future transactions. Please contact the registered office for the current checklist of identity and address documents.
The General Body of members is the final authority. It elects a Board of Directors of twelve members for a term of five years, with seats reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women. The elected members choose a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer from among themselves. Elections are conducted under the Rajasthan Co-operative Societies Act, 2001 by the Rajasthan State Co-operative Election Authority.
Yes.
